Winter is my favourite season of the year. I like it very much because it’s so beautiful in winter. The sun is so bright. The streets, houses, trees and other plants are white and the snow shines in the sun. You can ski, skate and sledge a lot. We usually play snowballs and make snowmen in winter. We play a lot in the forest and have winter holydays too. We celebrate Xmas and New Year in December and January.
There are four seasons in the year. Each of them brings different weather and different dresses. When it is hot people wear T-shirts and shorts, light blouses and skirts, socks and sandals. In cold weather people usually put on warm clothes, jeans and trousers, overcoats and caps. There is no bad weather, there are bad clothes. Everything is good in its season.
A lot of birds and animals move from country to country and from the continent to continent during the year. Some move when summer is over and becomes colder and some when there is no food to eat. Many birds can’t find food under the snow, so they fly to warmer countries. When winter comes some birds can fly more than 7000 kilometers in 3 days. They come back in spring.
There are 31 days in this month. It is cold and sometimes snow in this month. On the 25-th there is the greatest holiday in England – Christmas or X-mas. People give each other presents and send Christmas cards. The traditional English dinner on Christmas Day is roast turkey and Christmas pudding. What month is it?
There are 31 day in this month. It’ s the beginning of spring. In this month the snow begins melting and sometimes it is very wet. The sun shines more brightly. The temperature is 5 or 10 degrees above zero. In this month there is also a holyday for all women. And in England all people celebrate Mother’s Day. On this day they visit their mothers and give them some presents. What month is it?
In this month there is a day for fun – Fool’s Day. Children like this day very much. They play jokes and tricks on other people: other children, parents, friends, relatives, school teachers. One is to tell someone that something is wrong with his dress when in fact all is in order. It is a day for fun.
June, July and August are summer months. The weather is usually warm and sunny. But sometimes it is rainy and stormy. The average temperature in summer is about 20 or 25 degrees above zero. Schoolchildren don’t go to school. They have got summer holidays and they are very happy.

Many English families live in flats, but some people have got their own houses. There are two floors in the traditional English house; the ground floor and the first floor. The bedrooms and a bathroom (or bathrooms) are upstairs on the first floor. The living room, the dining room, the kitchen and a hall are downstairs on the ground floor.

The living room is usually the largest room in the house. There is always a sofa, some chairs and armchairs in it. There is often a carpet on the floor. It makes the room comfortable. English people usually have a fire in the living room. They often spend evenings in armchairs near the fire. They read books, watch TV, listen to music and sit around and talk. People in England like their homes and often say “There is no place like home” and “East or West, home is the best”.
