Edinburgh as the capital of Scotland is very attractive place and has a great past. Edinburgh is known as Athens of the North. It is an ancient city and if you walk around it you can touch on history at every step. Practically every building has a tale to tell. The city is one of European major tourist centers, attracting about 13 million visitors a year, and is the second most visited tourist destination in the United Kingdom, after London.

- I think you know that Scotland is famous not only for its sights but its people. Who knows who are they? You are right. They are Walter Scott, Robert Burns and others. I would like you to listen to one of the most famous Scottish poem « My Heart’s in the Highlands» by Robert Burns. Open your text books at the page 184. And now listen to the literary translation of this poem by S. Marshak. Look at the board and name the English equivalents to the underlined parts of this poem.
